Written and narrated by Rod Shelton, this tells the story of Otford Palace. Today's few remains of the North Range give no hint that this was once one of the largest palaces in England. With origins dating back to an Anglo Saxon manor house built by the then Archbishop of Canterbury in 821, the palace, rivalling Hampton Court in style and size, was designed and built in the sixteenth century by Archbishop Wareham. Using a model of the palace housed in the Otford Heritage Centre, we can see what the palace looked like and how it was used. The Otford Heritage Village YouTube channel is an integral ingredient of the main Otford Heritage Village website. It contains the video productions and records from award-winning local video-director, Barbara Darby which concentrate on aspects of Otford’s history and heritage. If you would like to know more about our ancient past and earliest forebears, visit https://otfordheritagevillage.org.uk The producers have sought to make contact with all known persons seen in these early videos. Naturally this has not always been possible. We trust we do not cause offence to any other persons contained within them.
