The way this song came together was very special, innovative, and exciting. It just seemed to flow out of all the musicians in the room! I recorded it at Gold Standard with Aaron Goldstein, David Engle, and Anna Ruddick, and it features Jim James from "My Morning Jacket" on vocals. I’ve always been a big fan of MMJ, and a chance encounter at the LA Forum when my friend Allison Russell asked me to perform at the Robbie Robertson Tribute directed by Martin Scorsese led to a wonderful connection with Jim. We’ve stayed friends ever since, and when this song was almost done, I sent it to him to see what he thought. He loved it, so I asked if he’d be down to sing on it, and he said yes. I love how our voices blend together; it's quite effortless and natural. Jim brings a tender urgency to the track, and it’s an honour and a real gift to have him singing on it. He’s a true gem of a human and one of the world’s great, unique talents!
