Wide back shot of gathering STORYLINE: A small rally of youths gathered in central Moscow on Sunday calling on the Russian government to decriminalise marijuana in response to the growing problem of drug addiction in the country. The rally was not officially sanctioned, but police standing by did not intervene. One participant said "Heroin and cocaine are evil, simply junk. But if you wants to have a smoke of grass, well, you''re welcome. If you like it, you should be allowed to do it. I have nothing against it." Despite the Russian government''s toughening stand on narcotics, the drug situation in Russia has worsened. According to official statistics, Russia has seen a nine-fold increase in drug addiction in recent years and suffers 70,000 drug-related deaths annually.
