Contrary to popular belief, Busy Bee insists that while Puerto Ricans were present in the early days, they “didn't want no part” in foundational elements of hip-hop like DJing or MCing. He admitted that their primary contributions were in breakdancing and graffiti. Busy Bee emphasizes that Latino culture enriched hip-hop with Spanish language and unique street elements, but culturally, Puerto Ricans didn’t see themselves fitting into the core roles of hip-hop’s inception.
