China on Saturday has sent the first international rescue team to Myanmar after a 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck the country on March 28. A 37-member medical team from Yunnan Province arrived in Yangon early on March 29, carrying equipment such as life detectors, early warning systems, drones and satellite phones. They joined Myanmar’s emergency teams and headed to the hardest-hit area, Nay Pyi Taw, about 380 km away. Another rescue team from Blue Sky Rescue group,China's largest non-governmental humanitarian organization, has already crossed the border into Myanmar. China Saturday announced that it will provide 100 million yuan (USD 14 million) in emergency aid to Myanmar. The support includes two national rescue teams and supplies like tents, blankets, food, water and first aid kits. The first shipment will leave on March 31, with more aid to follow if needed. Later that day, 82 members of China’s national rescue team also prepared to leave from Beijing with over 20 tons of supplies, including rescue gear, medical tools and emergency food. __________________ ShanghaiEye focuses on producing top-quality contents.
