I've started the OpenTx with MAVLink project more than a year ago, and it is working great for me since then. However, it yielded "not so nice" installations. On some radios like the Jumper T16 it required doing some soldering on the transmitter main board, and even on transmitters like the Radiomaster TX16S, which expose the serial UART ports to the user, "not so nice" wiring and installation resulted.
