It was "caregiver panic" when Bobbi Junior learned that her teenage daughter was involved in an accident leaving her as a quadriplegic. "It was like being on a different planet," Bobbi stated. The total exhaustion of trying to do everything as a caregiver drove her suicidal thoughts. That's when her daughter told Bobbi that "You have to take care of Mom first!" Bobbi compiled a list of 24 people she knew, and delegated responsibilities to each of them so that they could lessen the overwhelming load of responsibility of one individual. "There are challenges in caregiving, but there's also victories". She acknowledges the Alberta Caregivers Association as being of great support and help. The Alberta Caregivers Association is a non-profit charitable organization that supports over 600,000 caregivers in Alberta through programs, services, and initiatives. A caregiver is someone who assists a family member or friend facing challenges resulting from a disability, illness, or aging.
