In this special artist conversation, multidisciplinary artist Serron Green joins Bridge Art Gallery to discuss his work featured in the Expressive Creative Soul exhibition. Raised in Newark during the Black Power era and shaped by the 1980s graffiti movement, Green’s work bridges street art, historical narrative, and contemporary cultural commentary. The discussion explores two powerful works in the exhibition: “Big Paws On A Puppy,” reflecting on the tragic story of George Stinney Jr., and “1960 What?”, a reinterpretation of Ruby Bridges and the Civil Rights movement. Through these works, Green examines themes of justice, identity, memory, and Black cultural history. Hosted by Cheryl Mack of Bridge Art Gallery, this conversation offers insight into Green’s creative process and the historical stories that inform his work.
