The search for an answer to the question of how ancient Egyptian stone vessels were manufactured can proceed in several directions. One approach is based on measuring geometric properties of the forms and subsequently comparing them with the capabilities of specific equipment. However, there is also a more direct path — the analysis of manufacturing traces on the vessels themselves. Tool marks are physical evidence of the production process. On one of the vessels, characteristic grooves can be observed. Their shape and orientation make it possible to draw conclusions about the nature of the motion involved during processing. If both external and internal grooves have a concentric form without intersections, this indicates that rotation of the object around an axis occurred during the manufacturing process. Producing such a pattern of traces by manual shaping without rotation would be extremely difficult. An additional indicator is the regular spacing between the grooves. The small and consistent distance between them, along with the absence of chaotic crossings, suggests stable contact between the tool and the surface under controlled motion. Thus, it can be concluded that this particular vessel was shaped using a rotational manufacturing technique.
