Stressi – Stressi Imatra, Finland, 1981 electronic, rock, new wave, new romantic, synthpop Stressi was a Finnish band active in the early 1980s, known for its unique blend of new wave, disco, and the local variant of new romanticism often referred to as futu. The group never achieved commercial success, although it gained national attention through participation in a Finnish rock music competition. Initially influenced by post-punk bands, Stressi gradually shifted its style under the growing influence of electronic music. Their only album, released in 1981, reflects that transition – combining cold synthesizer textures, robotic rhythms, and elements of late-70s disco. One of the band’s members was Mauri Sumen, brother of Jimi Sumen, a solo artist and later member of Classix Nouveaux.
