In this case, a state Department of Transportation (DOT) project is shown as an example. Browse to the DOT download file, import the DOT bid items, then match these DOT items to historical items that you have estimated in the past. As the plus signs appear, the estimate is being built. Notice how quickly you have completed the most tedious part of building an estimate. In this case, 85 fully worked up items. You can then analyze these items and make adjustments for conditions unique to this project. Missing Bid Items For missing items, one option is to copy from past estimates by selecting an estimate, selecting an item, and then dragging and dropping to the current estimate. In the video, you can see all of the work copied to the current estimate. Prebuilt Calculation Routines & Updates If you have prebuilt calculation routines, you can use them to update activities in your estimate and show your assumptions in the notes. If you need to change the calculation, HeavyBid has a link in the notes to quickly open the routine to allow changes and then update the notes in the activity with the new results. If you decide to change the calculation inputs, HeavyBid will update your activity quantities, as well as the notes. Build Multiple Items You can quickly build multiple items using assemblies which allow you to select the items needed for this particular estimate while also saving the information in the notes. There is also a bi-directional interface to P6 and MS project for scheduling your estimate. Any changes can be imported back into HeavyBid and easily reviewed to meet the schedule's requirements. Finally, you can spread costs, mark up items, and arrive at bid prices and submit them electronically or in many different formats.
