For seven days, Asteria would gather the dregs of decaying time, burn away sin and corruption with the Flame of the End, and rewind the land and its memories back into the churning womb of rebirth. When the world had been cleansed, Lumiana would awaken and pour life into it once more. Her light summoned sprouts, arched rainbows, and filled the skies. And when her strength was spent, Asteria would rise again. —Genesis and Finality. Two goddesses who were never meant to touch. Through thirty great cycles of reincarnation, this world had been reborn and ruined again and again. But as the thirtieth cycle quietly tilted toward its end, the gears of fate began to slip— thrown off course by a single existence. As the world began to collapse at an unnatural speed, Lumiana’s light rapidly faded, and the prophecy of the “Seven Days Before the End” spread across the land. Mountains split, monsters stirred within the earth, and light withdrew from the heavens. The descent of Asteria was drawing near—far too soon. At that time, within the Holy Church, there lived a heretical young man who did not blindly believe the words of the gods— Leo. He harbored a deep doubt about a world whose end was said to be “predetermined.” And so, he committed the ultimate taboo. —He struck down Lumiana, the waning Goddess of Genesis, devoured her divinity, and chose to become the one who would deny the End itself. Normally, for a human to touch a god’s soul is to be reduced to ash. A blade that could slay a goddess should not exist within the laws of the world. But Leo was different. As one never chosen by the gods, he bore neither their blessing nor their curse. Thus, he alone could sever divine law. Lumiana, seated within the secret sanctuary, half of her body turning to stone as she remained in prayer, looked upon Leo and faintly smiled. Was that smile forgiveness? Or was it a final entrustment? In the next instant, Leo’s blade fell. A torrent of golden radiance flooded the temple. The divinity meant to scorch the heavens poured into Leo instead, melting the boundary between god and man. Thus, the heretic who devoured Genesis was engraved upon the world as the God-Eater. —The traitor who slew Genesis itself. Yet only Leo knew the truth. Within his chest lingered a faint warmth— the echo of Lumiana’s will. The goddess had not perished. She had entrusted Leo with her final choice: to sever the cycle of reincarnation itself. Having understood everything, Leo vanished from the Holy Church. He would wait for the brief void between Lumiana’s disappearance and Asteria’s manifestation. “I will rewrite the fate of this world.” Whether that was salvation or blasphemy, no one could say. As the omen of an “apocalypse without revelation” crept ever closer, the people could do nothing but pray. In a world where justice and evil flicker and blur, does the path of Leo the God-Eater lead to salvation? Or to a deeper hell— one even the gods have never seen?
