This is a playthrough of Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I for PC (timestamps below). The first part of the short-lived Sonic 4 episodic series sees Modern Sonic run through some very familiar stages on a 2D plain. I actually like Sonic 4 a fair bit more than a lot of Sonic fans do, though Episode I in particular is not without its flaws. The physics issues are well-documented, and other problems include weird implementations of Sonic's mechanics (the spin-dash isn't particularly useful in this game - if you want to build up speed, repeatedly jumping is more effective), level design that arbitrarily slows you down, and player vulnerability (you're often left open to taking damage so it's easy to get hit by crashing into/falling on off-screen enemies). The music's divisive (dying cats etc.) but there's still some jams in here.
