We are making a stop in our old stomping grounds on the way to LAX so you know we had to pull up to some of the South Bay classic food spots. It's been close to 15-20 years since eating at Kotohira, but it's still as good as I remember. That said, there are plenty of other delicious old school Japanese restaurants nearby, but Kotohira still holds its own. Next up was my friend Angela's spot. She and her mom run Bowl Thai, Bowl Thai Grill, and Sweet Rice in Gardena. Over the years, they've racked up a solid reputation as being one of the go-to authentic Thai restaurants in LA. They've been deeply satisfying South Bay bellies for a long time! Sweet Rice is known for their soul-filling soup bowls in addition to their divine desserts. Finally, we wrap up our afternoon with a trip to an artisanal ice cream shop in Torrance. Scoops was iconic in LA in the last decade. We were blessed enough that one of the nephews of the original owner opened a location right here in Torrance, right inside the Nijiya Market strip mall. Brown Brown Bread (flavor) is a killer and their number one seller. We're off to Hawaii this week but we're so glad we stopped by these classic South Bay gems.
