Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced major facilities for Basant 2026 in Lahore to ensure public safety and convenience. According to Maryam Nawaz, specialist doctors and medical teams will remain on standby in case of any kite string (dor) related incidents. All major hospitals, including District Headquarter Hospitals, Tehsil Headquarter Hospitals, and Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics, have been placed on high alert. She also announced that Metro Bus, Orange Line Metro Train, Electric (Electro) Buses, Speedo and feeder buses will remain completely free for three days for Lahore residents. People traveling from other cities of Punjab to celebrate Basant in Lahore will also be able to use these transport services free of cost. Additionally, around 4,000 yellow rickshaws will provide free rides during the festival. Maryam Nawaz emphasized that Basant is a beautiful cultural tradition of Punjab, but it must be celebrated responsibly and safely. She stated that only government-approved manufacturers will be allowed to produce kites and strings, and strict action will be taken against violations.
