Wireless Innovation Forum Webinar Series #2 Originally Presented 26 May 2011 This webinar was presented in 4 parts: 1) Intro to the SCA and APIs Presented by Juan Pablo Zamora, CRC This webinar is an introduction to the Software Communications Architecture (SCA) from a Component Based Development (CBD) point of view. It first addresses the general requirements of CBD technologies, and highlights how the SCA addresses them. It then provides a brief description of the most common SCA APIs and their overall contribution to CBD realization. 2) Static Compliance Testing with R-Check SCA Presented by James Ezick, Reservoir Labs This webinar would provide a tutorial introduction to R-Check SCA, a compliance testing tool being developed in partnership with JTEL that uses static source code analysis to check aspects of the SCA specification. R-Check SCA uses a compiler-grade static analysis engine combined with off-the-shelf tools and data formats to test SCA-specific requirements that cut across C/C++ source code, CORBA IDL, and SCA XML descriptor files and generate concise, reproducible incident reports. R-Check SCA is now being expanded to support SCA Next. This webinar would provide an overview of the aims and methods of static compliance testing, an introduction to R-Check SCA, and a forum for soliciting feedback and feature requests from the developer community. 3) The SCA and FPGA's Presented by Andrew Foster, PrismTech Various approaches have been developed for integrating FPGA and GPP application components in a Software Communications Architecture (SCA) radio. Most of these have been less than successful, primarily due to overhead, latency and/or maintainability issues. This Webinar will examine new second-generation solutions for FPGA-GPP component integration that provide a low-latency, standards-based CORBA protocol with excellent performance metrics and the robustness of a proven, deployed solution. 4) Design of multi-platform SCA-compliant software components Presented by Daniele Olmisani, Selex Communications This webinar will provide a brief overview of challenges related to the design of sw components in SCA-compliant radio equipments. The main design goal of an SDR architecture is to match the portability criteria .This goal became a challenging design mission when different categories of radio platforms has to be considered in order to optimize: reusability scalability and extensibility of the same sw architecuture.
