These small glands are found in places like the lips, palate (roof of the mouth), cheeks, tongue, and throat. Tumors in these glands usually develop slowly and may not be noticed until they cause difficulty with swallowing, speaking, breathing, or pain. This study looked at patients treated for these types of tumors over 11 years at a hospital in Kaduna, Nigeria. It included people between the ages of 16 and 70, with women affected more than men. The most common tumor was pleomorphic adenoma, a non-cancerous type, and the palate was the most frequent location. Surgery was the main treatment. For cancerous tumors, additional treatments like chemotherapy and radiation were used. A common complication after surgery was a hole (fistula) in the roof of the mouth. Conclusion: Most tumors were non-cancerous and occurred in the roof of the mouth, often affecting speech and eating. Early diagnosis and treatment are important to prevent serious complications and maintain quality of life.
