Alex Pereira will defend his UFC light heavyweight title against Khalil Rountree Jr. The fight card will be held in Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 5. The champion Alex Pereira makes his third defense of his 205-pound title, and his THIRD octagon appearance OF 2024! The 37-year-old Brazilian looks to be in his absolute prime and is coming off his second knockout win over Jiri Prochazka in June at UFC 303. In April at UFC 300, the former middleweight champion and reigning light heavyweight king Pereira KO’d former champion, Jamahal Hill in the first round. Prior to this fight he won the light heavyweight championship knocking out Jiri Prochazka for the first time at UFC 295. Alex 'Poatan' Pereira has aleready established himself as one of the greatest fighters in the UFC history. He's 8-1 since joining the UFC on Nov. 4, 2021, winning titles at middleweight and light heavyweight. Pereira started his UFC career with wins over Andreas Michailidis, Bruno Silva and Sean Strickland. After this he has almost only been in title fights. He fought Israel Adesanya twice, then moved up to light heavyweight and beat Jan Blachowicz, beat Jiri Prochazka to win the light heavyweight title, knocked out Jamal Hill to defend the title at UFC 300. Pereira then faced Jiri for the second time at UFC 303 and won by TKO. Over the span of three years, Poatan has now won titles at record time in two weight classes, and also defended his current title two times. His third title defense will be at the powerful and dangerous striker Khalil Rountree Jr who is riding a 5 fight winning streak. On October 5 at UFC 307 in Salt Lake City, Khalil Rountree Jr. (15-5, 1 NC) gets his first shot at UFC gold. The Los Angeles native had the biggest win in his UFC career over veteran and former title challenger, Anthony Smith. Rountree won the fight by third round TKO, and secured his 5th consecutive win in the UFC light heavyweight division. From September of 2021, Khalil Rountree JR. has beat Modestas Bukauskas by TKO, Karl Roberson by TKO, Dustin Jacoby by decision, Chris Daukaus by TKO and Anthony Smith also by TKO. The impressive five-win run has finally earned him a chance to win UFC gold. Rountree made his promotional debut on July 8, 2016 at UFC The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale for the TUF 23 Light Heavyweight title against Andrew Sanchez. White also confirmed the UFC 307 co-main event bout, pitting Raquel Pennington against Julianna Pena. The contest features the current bantamweight champion making her first title defense against the former champion. Also official for the event, a bantamweight bout between former featherweight champion Jose Aldo and Mario Bautista. As well, Ketlen Vieira of Brazil and Kayla Harrison square off at women’s bantamweight. Plus, Aljamain Sterling and Movsar Evloev clash at featherweight. Roman Dolidze faces Kevin Holland at middleweight.
