Vacuum dehydrator purifies hydraulic oil of a crane | Precision Filtration Products

A crane company on the East Coast called us because one of their cranes was failing due to water contamination in its hydraulic lines, causing the crane to not be able to extend during cold weather conditions due to the water freezing. In order to solve their problem, we rented to them a vacuum dehydrator oil purification system, brought it directly to them on site at their location, hooked it up to the reservoir, and started a kidney-loop filtration system to remove the water from the hydraulic oil. Powered by a mobile generator, we were able to heat the oil to dissolve the ice, and then use the dehydrator to extract the moisture from the hydraulic oil. After the oil in the reservoir was clean and free of water, we raised and lowered the crane and its accessories until all the hydraulic fluid in the lines was fully circulated through the reservoir and clean again. We repeated the above process several times that day until their rental period of the vacuum dehydrator system ended. During the process we also identified the source of the water ingression and recommended to the customer how to prevent the water contamination problem from reoccurring.
