And the strategies I talk about here apply to every EMS certification level; EMR, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic. The NREMT cognitive examination is broken up into five main categories: Airway, respiration and ventilation, cardiology and resuscitation, trauma, medical/OBGYN and EMS operations with 85% adult questions and 15% pediatric questions. Too many students use resources that do not help them learn the way they think. If you are a visual learner watching videos may be a lot more helpful than reading chapters in your textbook. Another critical point is that practice questions have a place as an assessment tool but that is not studying content or making you smarter in terms of content.
