HNG Capital was incorporated in year 2011 to undertake the privatisation of Leader Universal Holdings Berhad (“LEADER Group”), a group with an enduring history of approximately 40 years, and founded by Tan Sri Dato Seri H’ng Bok San. The privatisation exercise was successfully completed in May 2012. LEADER Group’s history dated back to year 1976 when its founders founded Leader Cable Industry Berhad, a cable manufacturing company. Since then, the Group had grown from strength to strength and in 1988, the Group undertook a merger and reverse takeover exercise involving the then listed Universal Cable (M) Berhad. This led to the eventual formation and listing of Leader Universal Holdings Berhad on the Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad. Pursuant to the privatization, HNG Capital had undertaken a string of corporate exercises that included the disposal of investment holdings in Leader Cable Industry Berhad and Universal Cable (M) Berhad. The aim is to reposition HNG Capital in core strategic investments that focus on future growth prospects. Today, HNG Capital is a family-owned investment holdings company that focuses on three core businesses: Power, Metal, Hospitality and Properties, touting a total group revenue of nearly RM2.5 billion and total group asset of over RM2.2 billion (year 2014).
