Pokemon XD: Gale Of Darkness, Orre Colosseum Round 6 - There were a bunch of times in this round when things just did not go as well as I'd hoped. But that's Orre Colosseum. Whether from status conditions, critical hits, or just wrong decisions by me, things looked stacked up against me. However, Blissey was there to bail me out each time. Thanks to her Toxic, Softboiled, and amazing resilience against special moves, Blissey made huge play after huge play. The reward? A battle and long coveted victory against Ardos, a Cipher Admin and one of Greevil's twin sons! Five of the first trainer's six Pokemon are weak against Ice type moves. The catch? He always leads with Dusclops and it knows Imprison, Ice Beam, and Ice Punch, along with Protect. This is where my decision to teach my Gengar Taunt paid off very well. That allowed me to cripple his team temporarily while dishing out some super effective Ice Beams. The second trainer will use an Sunny Day/Chlorophyll team. While she has a Blaziken and Entei, half of her team is weak against Fire types, so it would not be a bad idea to include some of your own to make use of the sunlight, and power up their Fire type moves. Dragon types are great here as well. Also, her Jumpluff does not know any damage dealing moves, which could also work in your favor. The third trainer has the opposite. A Rain Dance/Swift Swim team! A bulky Grass type like Venusaur or a fast one like Sceptile can really help you here, but keep in mind that most his team knows Ice Beam to counter those types of Pokemon. Also, if you plan on using Electric types, watch out for his Manectric, whose special ability is Lightningrod, which absorbs moves of that type. This is where Blissey really delivered, and also engineered possibly my greatest comeback ever in my years of gaming! As for the man himself? Ardos doesn't have a specific theme like the three trainers before him. However, he does have a team full of strong and fast Pokemon. Here, I would recommend including a couple Pokemon with the ability Levitate (I feel Zapdos would be the only viable Flying type in this situation). One thing that really worked in my favor is that his Tauros is holding a Choice Band, and thus, locked himself into using Earthquake a couple times to start with, which really wore down his Sceptile, but did not damage my Pokemon. It also helped that my Blastoise had Protect at his disposal, which allowed Blissey to come in and finish off Sceptile with Flamethrower later on. If you happen to match up against his Tauros, you may be able to use his Choice Band to your advantage, depending on who you bring out. As you can see, that was crucial for me getting the win. Additionally half of his team is weak against Electric types. This was such a difficult round, and there were many setbacks along the way, which makes this win all that much sweeter! One more round, and I can finally say that I've beaten Orre Colosseum. At this point, I'm sure you can guess who I'll see in this next final...
