(21 Feb 2026) ASSOCIATED PRESS Berlin - 21 February 2026 1. Various of Ilker Catak and Ingo Fliess posing with the Golden Bear award for Best Film for "Yellow Letters" 2. SOUNDBITE (English) Ilker Catak, director and Ingo Fliess, producer: Fliess: "We were overwhelmed." Catak: "He was crying to be honest." Fliess: "I'm always crying. That's natural to me. Emotions come out and you cannot believe it because for us it was just a great achievement to be here at the competition of the Berlinale at all. And now winning not an award but the award is just incredible." Catak: "It's incredible, right? And it's just such a great thing that the work of so many people is being seen. This is not about me or Ingo. This is about our whole team who put their soul into this film." 3. Close of Golden Bear award, tilt up 4. SOUNDBITE (English) Ilker Catak, director, and Ingo Fliess, producer: Catak: "Yeah, I think movies can be political. Every artist needs to, you know, decide for themselves. We decided to make a political film and we decided to make it politically. But it was our choice and I would never put that pressure on a colleague or something like that. So we shouldn't be living in a black or white world. Let's allow the grey zones, right?" Fliess: "And political means more like having an attitude towards life and to society, to depict it and to see what there is with all the contradictions, with all of the complexity and to embrace that, not to get rid of it. That is political filmmaking to us." 5. Mid of Lance Hammer, Silver Bear Jury Prize winner for 'Queen at Sea' 6. SOUNDBITE (English) Lance Hammer, writer/director: "Surprise and gratitude to the festival and to the jury and to my collaborators, especially the cast members who really worked for this one and grew something truthful out of a lot of sessions together, and with me. And yeah, they brought life to something that was just inanimate, and they animated it with soul and truth, and I'm grateful to them because we would not have a film without them." 7. Mid of Tom Courtenay and Anna Calder-Marshall, winners of Silver Bear for Best Supporting Performance for "Queen at Sea" 8. SOUNDBITE (English) Tom Courtenay and Anna Calder-Marshall, actors: Courtenay: "Yes, I was rather hoping I'd get one on my own, but what can you do?" Calder-Marshall: "I didn't know whether we'd have to halve the bear. So I'd have the bottom of it." Courtenay: "We didn't get one each, you know." (Reporter: "You're not getting one each?") Courtenay: "No, but I've got one already, so I'm giving my half to Annie." Calder-Marshall: "Well, I think I'll just ask you down to the cottage and see the bear." Courtenay: "I'll come down and see her." Calder-Marshall: "He'll probably come down to see the bear, not me.' Courtenay: "My bear that I got in 2015, I was hoping it might get a friend." Calder-Marshall: "Don't make me cry!" 9. Mid of Sandra Hüller posing with the Silver Bear for Best Leading Performance for "Rose" 10. Close of Silver Beat, tilt up to Hüller's face 11. SOUNDBITE (English) Sandra Hüller, actor - on whether it feels different winning a Silver Bear for the second time: "Yes, it feels different because I am older and I feel different, yeah.
