A state’s laws are a testament to its history. Published by the Connecticut State Library, The Public Records of the State of Connecticut series, formerly The Public Records of the Colony of Connecticut, is a transcription of the manuscript register of the acts, resolutions, and appointments made by the General Assembly going back to the 17th century. They cover almost the entire existence of Connecticut’s government. They document the state’s participation in the Revolutionary War, the adoption of the U.S. Constitution, the War of 1812, and give us a glimpse into the state’s most heated debates of slavery, voting rights and so much more. Join Dr. Douglas M. Arnold, independent scholar and editor, and State Archivist Lizette Pelletier, for a look into what is probably one of the oldest publication projects in Connecticut as they discuss their work with the Public Records of the State.
