Interview with Reg Baker, reflecting on his experiences as a dispatch rider for the British Army's Royal Army Ordinance Corps, in Palestine, between 1946 and 1948. This was a period of growing violence between elements from within the Jewish community and the British Army - part of the events leading into the 1947-48 Civil War in Mandatory Palestine that evolved into the into the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. The British had been administering the region (since 1920) under a mandate formalized by the League of Nations, and which came to an end during the period Mr Baker is being interviewed in respect of.
