The Survival Guide Media presents: “Bed-Stuy is Not Broken: Everything is for Sale” a Documentary Series. In this Sries we are hoping to take an objective approach and analyze every aspect of the current happenings in Bedford-Stuyvesant and its surrounding areas. While gentrification, race and class warfare are viable parts of this discussion, We hope to explore and discover the other underlying issues which are contributing to the changes taking place in this community. Gentrification is obviously taking place, any minority who has lived in the community is fully aware of this, However this phenomenon is about much more than race & class, and is not simply relegated to the discussion of wealthy white intruders displacing less-privileged black residents. That premise alone will not describe the complex Reality of the “New Bedford Stuyvesant”, there needs to be an analysis done on every angle of this subject, because based on the conversations I’ve had all the “New-Comers” aren’t apart of some grand conspiracy to take the neighborhood, and a lot of the “Old-Timers” aren’t willing to be pushed aside so easily. We will explore every aspect of displacement and how power brokers within the Politicial Arena, Financial and Banking Institutions as well as Big Business often have a hand in shaping the changes in many communities throughout New York City. With Globalization, and New York City always being considered the “Mecca” of the World, it is easy to see why many neighborhoods that have been historically poor are now becoming thriving, vibrant communities. These neighborhoods throughout New York City include: Bedford Stuyvesant, Crown Heights, Harlem, Williamsburg, Bushwick, Fort Greene, Park Slope, Flatbush, Washington Heights, Manhattanville, and many more.
