Playlist: • Ys VI: Ark of Napishtim Boss 7: Ernst, The Successor of Almarion Nightmare Mode Battle begins at 4:23 As the elevator reaches the top, Adol finds Geis defeated from battle against his brother. Adol briefly learns of the beast he just defeated and of his brother's current power before lapsing into unconsciousness. At the "throne" room, Adol confronts Ernst, whom reveals the lengths he has gone keeping up with Adol's journey's and in attempting to eliminate him. With a terse but thorough detailing of the Eldeen civilization and his connection to Alma, Ernst obtains to Black Wings of power, achieving the strength he desired, and then turns it upon Adol. ════════════════════════════ While he's not as difficult as one would expect, Ernst is able to put up a good fight. Alone he isn't too bad, but Sera, Jue, and Xisa "fight" with him, making it that much more difficult/random. Sera calls down lightning bolts to the field for good damage, Jue shoots random streaks of fire, and Xisa shoots a ball that can heal Ernst (and you if you catch it before it reaches him). Together they can form a triangular glyph which holds you in place for too long a time, rounding out their annoyance factor. Ernst himself flies around and acts like many Ys bosses before and after him: he has his basic slashes and a powerful charge, shoots waves of energy, can summon energy pillars, and can send out damaging dust similar to the Zonplas. Fortunately he doesn't pack any lasers, but with his fairies on the field damage can rack up pretty quickly as you focus on either him or dodging them; they can be briefly knocked unconscious, which is worth it only if it is convenient. As for damaging the bastard himself, the lightning sword is the best tool to use, though I wanted to try out the other two as well and came up with moderate success using the wind's (Livart's) extra function. ════════════════════════════ Game: Ys VI: Ark of Napishtim / イースVI ナピシュテムの匣 Release Date: 27/09/2003 (PC), 22/02/2005 (PS2) System: PS2 Recorded with Pinnacle Dazzle DVD Recorder
