Up to 320 kW charging power is possible, which means that up to 325 kilometers of range can be recharged in just ten minutes - figures that are certainly impressive. Two models are available at market launch: the CLA 250+ with 200 kW (272 hp) and 335 Nm of torque and the CLA 350 4MATIC, which is launched with 260 kW (354 hp) and 515 Nm. With a length of 4.72 meters, the new CLA has grown by a few centimeters and is now longer than its predecessor. The wheelbase is 2.79 meters and the width of the CLA is also slightly larger at 2.02 meters including exterior mirrors. The latest addition to Mercedes-Benz, which will roll off the production line in Rastatt, is 1.47 meters high. With an NMC battery that offers a usable energy content of 85 kWh and achieves an energy density of up to 680 Wh/l through the use of silicon oxide in the anodes, Mercedes-Benz also wants to set new standards in terms of efficiency. The fact that the CLA also has one of the most aerodynamic bodies in its class with a drag coefficient of 0.21 should further benefit the range. The combined consumption is specified as between 12.2 and 14.7 kWh / 100 km depending on the model - admittedly according to WLTP, but at least two of our editorial staff can also achieve these values ​​in everyday use. The range of the CLA 250+ is given as 694-792 km, while the CLA 350 4MATIC has a range of 672-771 kilometers in the specifications. While Mercedes-Benz was very sure a few months ago that 400-volt technology was completely sufficient, they are now also relying on 800-volt technology. The advantages are obvious: fast charging with up to 320 kW is possible, which puts the new CLA in direct competition with models from Korea, Stuttgart, Ingolstadt or China. If you can't find a fast charging station, you can charge with up to 11 kW at AC columns - solid, but not spectacular. That brings me to the charging time, at an AC column or wall box it should be nine hours, it is quicker at a DC charging station with the corresponding charging power, then it takes just under 22 minutes to charge from 10-80% state of charge. The CLA 350 4MATIC with EQ technology has all-wheel drive and accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, the CLA 250+ with EQ technology has classic rear-wheel drive and needs 6.7 seconds for the standard sprint. Both models reach a top speed of 210 km/h. Mercedes-Benz has recognized that electromobility should also have practical benefits. With 405 liters, the trunk offers more than enough space for everyday use. CLA drivers who want to upgrade will now note: "That's 55 liters less than the current one!" - and yes, that's true, but the CLA not only has the power of the two electric hearts as an option, but also comes with a frunk as standard, i.e. a small front storage space: up to 101 liters of capacity are available here. By the way, we have a payload of 440-455 kilograms, a permissible total weight of 2,135-2,510 kg and a maximum towing capacity of 1.8 tons. The fourth generation of MBUX dominates the interior, which presents itself as the most intelligent Mercedes-Benz infotainment system ever. Google Maps is directly integrated, over-the-air updates are standard, and the MBUX Virtual Assistant can hold conversations with generative AI. If you don't skimp on your order, you can optionally treat yourself to a Burmester 3D surround sound system including Dolby Atmos, 16 speakers and an 850 watt amplifier, and the CLA wouldn't be a real Mercedes if there wasn't also an AMG line. Optional remains the magic word, because a head-up display, the MBUX superscreen, a night package and rims between 17 and 19" are also available as options. All CLA models have the panoramic roof and the CLA is prepared for bidirectional charging; the function will be made available at a later date via an over-the-air update.
