Video Title Murshidabad One Day Tour Guide || Katra Masjid || House Of Jagat Seth || মুর্শিদাবাদ ভ্রমণ About video – Murshidabad, town, central West Bengal state, northeastern India. The town, lying just east of the Bhagirathi River,Originally called Makhsudabad, it was reputedly founded by the Mughal emperor Akbar in the 16th century. In 1704 the nawab (ruler) Murshid Qulī Khan (following Aurangzeb’s orders) transferred the capital there from Dacca (now Dhaka, Bangladesh) and renamed the town Murshidabad. It continued to be the capital under the British until 1790 and is still the seat of the prominent descendants of the nawabs of Bengal. Of historic interest are Nizamat Kila, also called the Hazaarduari Palace (Palace of a Thousand Doors), built in the Italianate style in 1837; Pearl Lake (Moti Jhil) just to the south, with Muradbagh Palace; and Khushbagh Cemetery, containing the tombs of ʿAlī Vardī Khan, the last great nawab, and Sirāj-al-Dawlah, his grandnephew, who was defeated by the British at the Battle of Plassey (Palashi). Constituted a municipality in 1869, Murshidabad has several colleges affiliated with the University of Calcutta. The city is now renowned for its tourist sites as well as a thriving handicrafts industry. What to see in Murshidabad? 1. Hazarduari Palace: Hazarduari earlier known as Bara Kothi situated on the east bank of river bhagirathi. Hazarduari was biult by Nawab Nazim Humayun Jha. It has 1000 doors out of which 100 false door are there. 2. Nizamat imambara : It was built in 1740 by Nawab Siraj Ud-Daula and rebuilt by Nawab mansur Ali Khan. It is the largest Imambara of the world. 3. Murshidabad Clock Tower : The clock tower stands in garden space between Nizamat Imambara and hazarduari. 4. Madina Mosque : The mosque was built by Nawab Siraj Ud-Daula and the soil used for to built it was taken from Mecca. 5. Yellow Mosque: This mosque was also built by Nawab Siraj Ud-Daula. Only Namazies are allowed to enter this mosque. 6. Wasif Manzil : Ali mirza Khan built this. 7. Khushbag : The Garden of Happiness is garden cemetery of Nawab of Bengal. It has cemetery of Nawab Siraj Ud-Daula, Alibardi Khan, Lutfunnisa, Ghaseti Begum, 8. Hira Jheel: This was the palace of Nawab Siraj Ud-Daula. But this place is destroyed by the river Bhagirathi. 9. Roshnibag : Tomb of Sujauddin is situated here. 10. Tomb of Azimunissa Begum : A small garden is there and you will find part of a destroyed mosque here. 11. Jafargunj Cemetery: This place is cemetery garden of Mirzafar and his family members. 12. Namak Haram Deorhi: This is the entry gate of the house of Mirzafar. Mirzafar stayed here before he succeed to the Musnad of Bengal. 13. Ashram of Mohanta Das: This is a typical ashram of Mohant Das. A temple of Raghunath ji is situated here. 14. Nashipur Rajbari: This place is built by Debi Sing.
