When we talk about the electric field due to a dipole on its axial line, imagine a dipole as two equal and opposite charges placed a little distance apart. The axial line is simply the straight line that passes through both of these charges. Now, if we place a point anywhere on this line, the electric field there will be the result of both charges. The positive charge tries to push a test charge away, while the negative charge tries to pull it in. Since both these effects act along the same line, they combine to give a stronger effect. At points far away from the dipole, the combined field depends mainly on the dipole’s strength (which we call its dipole moment) and decreases very rapidly with distance. In fact, unlike a single charge where the field decreases slowly, in a dipole the field becomes weaker much faster as we move away. So, the main idea is: on the axial line, the electric field of a dipole is stronger, directed along the axis, and decreases quickly with distance #PhysicsClass12 #ElectricDipole #AxialLine #Electrostatics #BoardExamPrep #EasyPhysics #DipoleConcept #PhysicsMadeSimple #education #physics #science #paradox #important #study
