Mitsubishi S-VHS M1000 repair. I bought this Mitsubishi M1000 s-video player in 1995 because the HS-U82 model stopped being manufactured and there was only one demo unit left. I used a SONY Hi-8 camera and created a master tape on S-VHS with it. From the year 2005 I used it to pass my recordings to DVD with the PC, but it has had very little use. In 2006 I had to replace the supercapacitor to save date and time. And from 2015 the OSD image was lost, the display luminosity was reduced and at the end the image looked very bad and the threading of the tape was not completed. I decided to fix it and downloaded the Service Handbuch from Mitsubishi with the schematics: https://www.manualscenter.com/manuals... -The first thing I replaced was the main pulley belt. When I opened it, I discovered that a large number of electrolytic capacitors had leaks, whose electrolyte had corroded the tracks on both sides in some cases. This occurred in the power supply, PCB-Signal circuit and PCB-Hifi /dec circuit. -In the power supply I replaced all the electrolytics and repaired two cutted tracks. This fixed the brightness of the display and the correct threading of the tape. -In the PCB-SIGNAL board I replaced almost all 6.3, 10, 16 and 25 volts capacitors, some of 50 and 63 and many of them deformed and /or leaking; in total 45 capacitors. I had to fix 5 cutted circuit tracks and several metallic holes. I checked and cleaned the tracks, welds and drills of all the affected areas. Following the diagrams and measuring the signal I could detect welds, tracks and defective holes. -In the PCB-Hifi / Lin / Dec board I had to replace 26 electrolytic capacitors that had deformation or leakage of electrolyte (10, 16, 25 and 50 volts). In the affected areas I had to repair 2 cutted tracks and three defective welds. With these repairs I got the OSD image and the image in the Vcomp and S-video outputs and the audio were correct playing VHS tapes, as seen in the video. But playing S-VHS pre-recorded tapes, a horizontal synchronization problem with all the tapes is seen on the screen, as it appears in the video. Analyzing the circuit I observed that the output signal of the Head-amplifier in S-video mode uses most of the same circuits that process the external S-video signal. I decided to enter an s-video signal from a DV camera at the frontal S-video input of the M1000. I noticed that in the output of the M1000 the S-video image was perfect. This indicated to me that I would have to review the parts of the circuit of the PCB-Signal exclusive for the processing of the amplified signal of the heads in S-VHS mode. To be continue...
