Volkspark Jungfernheide is located immediately south of Tegel Airport. With an area of 146 hectares, it is the second largest landscaped park in Berlin. On the meadows you will the 38 m high water tower built in 1927 with a cafe in the base. Inside the park there is a large area up in the canopy with zip-lines, nets, ladders and more for climbing and having a fun day. This part of the park is a magnet to children and youths of all ages. Instructors all around help you when you need to overcome your fear. I just love this park. A large pond surrounding an island with lush green forest also has two beaches for sun seekers and bathing guests. Here you can swim, paddle a SUP, play beach volleyball or just relax and enjoy the day. The park is well worth a visit. I usually take my bicycle to get around in the park and have brought the dog belonging to my girlfriend’s son. In Volkspark Jungfernheide dog owners can let their animals off the leash on the large fenced dog meadow and confidently make room on the park benches themselves. Drinking facilities for the four-legged friends as well as bag dispensers are available. In the western foothills of the Jungfernheide, the Werner-von-Siemens-Park, a large wooden dragon guards the playground for brave small adventurers. The paths through the park are gravelly, but the entrances are barrier-free thanks to lowered sidewalks. The park is facilitated for disabled people in wheelchairs. I have seen lot of of them on my many bike tours through the park.
