Hi guys, I just wanted to make a video showing voltage drop and it went completely sideways. I was hoping to show a huge drop with one wire like a lot of instructors show. They always say one strand of wire can't carry current but this proves it wrong. Yea, one strand can't carry the same amount as an intact wire but in everyday use and normal loads on a circuit it won't limit the current enough to throw a red flag. I wasn't sure what to do when I came to this conclusion. Friends of mine told me to release it and show what I found. I think the issue with how this is presented in the classroom is wrong. A small wire can carry a lot of current a short distance. When you cut the wire like I did the wire is completely intact up to the break and completely intact after, this allows it to carry a lot of current still as the overall resistance didn't change much. Now, a single Strand the same length will burn up. Also, the reason the wire doesn't heat up a lot with one strand is due to the fact copper is a good conductor of heat and transfers the heat through the entire wire, this effectively cools the strand down. I hope you guys like it, please comment below. Video on Light Bulb Testing • Multimeter VS Oscilloscope (Light Bulb Tes... DIY Leads Video • How to make your own Leads, Probes, Lights...
