Death is something that is guaranteed to come and no one doubts it but when it comes it always seem to be a shock! On Thursday 29th November 2025 (The 8th of Jumāda Al-Ākhir), I received the heavy news of the passing of our beloved elder (Shaykh) Abdul-Qayyūm رحمه الله. He was well-known and loved to the Muhājir community and also the local Gambians, known to be a kind, loving individual who used to LOVE THE SUNNAH. This was a real eye-opener wallāhi and it taught me a number of lessons: 1. We need to do more as it relates to our preparation for death 2. We need to also do better in terms of being united as a community of foreigners in a foreign land 3. We need to ensure that we have a will written to make it easier for people to know what to do when we die The Shaykh left his wife behind and we are doing our best to aid and assist her during this difficult time. Please make du’ā for the Shaykh and ask Allāh to forgive his sins, make him firm in the grave and grant him JANNAT UL-FIRDAWS!
