Join us for this important work session where the School Board reviewed key fiscal priorities and planning initiatives for our district's future. Meeting Highlights: FY26 One-Time Funding Requests ($954,500 total) The board discussed strategic investments in two priority areas: Safety & Security Enhancements ($654,500): • Exterior door replacement at Meridian High School ($200,000) - addressing safety concerns with current concealed vertical rod doors that don't properly close • Cybersecurity infrastructure improvements ($44,000) - strengthening digital protections for students, staff, and administrative systems • Security desk installation at Meridian High School ($50,000) - creating dedicated entrance for community use after hours • Security camera system alignment ($360,500) - standardizing camera systems across Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School and Meridian High School Strategic Planning & Facilities Assessment ($300,000): • Comprehensive facilities condition assessment across all FCCPS buildings - providing data-driven roadmap for capital planning and maintenance decisions FY27 Budget Process Improvements Dr. Dade and Ms. Prince presented a refined budget timeline developed in collaboration with Board Member Sherwood and City Council members. Key improvements include: • Earlier integration of School Board priorities • Enhanced coordination with City Council • More opportunities for community input during January and February public hearings • Eight dedicated budget sessions planned from December through May Electric Bus Infrastructure Agreement Ms. Minson reviewed a no-cost agreement with Dominion Virginia Energy to add charging infrastructure for our sixth electric bus, supporting our commitment to sustainable transportation. The board will vote on the one-time funding requests at the November 18, 2025, meeting.
