Restoration and Renovation of Kalashnikov Bayonet Knife

Hello folks! Today, I will show you restoration and renovation of the bayonet knife of the Kalashnikov system. I found him at a metal receiving station among a pile of metal. I will not restore this bayonet knife to its original form, technically it is impossible in my case because machines are required, but it can be used to make a good survival knife for normal work. Well, let's proceed to the restoration. The first duty I put it in a rust remover, washed, dried and oiled. Next, I removed the patina with a soft wire iron brush. The next step was polishing the blade. I used sandpaper from 40 to 240 grit. The surface of the blade could be said to be fine, but the cutting edge was not. It took a long time to polish. After cleaning and polishing the blade, I moved on to the guard. The difficulty here was not to remove the rings on the bayonet knife because it conveys the main features of the Kalashnikov bayonet, the second point is that the guard was not larger and smaller than the main part of the handle. For the material, I chose brass and with the help of a small sanding machine a made a suitable shape. Next, I welded a small piece of metal to the tang of the knife so that it was possible to fix the pommel. The handle itself was made of thick genuine leather. Processed the handle on sandpaper. Then I moved on to the creation of the scabbard. For the knife sheath, I used medium-thick natural leather with a leather insert and the ability to wear it on a belt or in a backpack.
