The key to this strategy is that Sneed before greed generates +2 gold for each player so +4 in total whenever it triggers. We repeatedly lose and recapture towers with gargoyles and catapults in order to keep our income up. You'll want to have active Gargoyles in both lanes when you enter phase 2 because they're really strong against the Sons of Flame. And when you enter phase 3 you'll want to play a gargoyle up the middle to intercept the son of flame before it kills your catapults. Once phase 3 starts you have to kill rag quickly or he'll just directly nuke your tower down.
