Ascending thoracic aortic aneurysms after heart transplantation

Is the aortic anastomotic site high risk for the development of aneurysms in heart transplant recipients? Is there something about the surgical technique or milieu of transplant medical therapies which heighten such risk? In this talk, Dr. Osama Anis shares three cases of heart transplant recipient thoracic ascending aortic aneurysms which he encountered during his post-doctoral research fellowship at the Yale Aortic Institute. He then goes on to discuss how this may add to previously published work that investigated the role of thoracic aortic hemodynamics as well as immunosuppression in heart transplant patients who later have gone on to develop these aneurysms.
