Read the winning story at www.scottishartstrust.org Thirty year old Hannah Retallick from Anglesey in Wales has won the 2024 Edinburgh Award for Flash Fiction for her story, 'What you do when you find your mother dead'. She takes home £2,000 - the UK’s biggest cash prize for flash fiction - plus the Edinburgh Award for Flash Fiction wall sculpture, and wins one year free membership of the Scottish Arts Club. The Edinburgh Award for Flash Fiction is open to writers worldwide and stories on any topic up to 250 words. Hannah was home educated and then studied with the Open University, graduating with a first-class BA (Honours) Arts and Humanities (Creative Writing and Music) degree, before passing her Creative Writing MA with distinction. In 2018, Hannah started to send out stories on a regular basis. Since then, she has been published in paperbacks, in e-books, and online, as well as placed/shortlisted in several international competitions, including Highly Commended in the Bridport Flash Fiction Prize 2022.
