Skye Scrambling Adventure | Sgurr nan Eag & Sgurr Dubh Mor | Trailkraft on the Cuillin Ridge 🏴☠️⛰️ The Cuillins of Skye are legendary — often called the UK’s most Alpine landscape, they offer serious scrambling, rugged beauty, and a true test of mountain skill. In May 2019, Andy from Trailblazer Outdoors (now Trailkraft) returned to this incredible ridge for his second outing, targeting two iconic peaks: Sgurr nan Eag and Sgurr Dubh Mor. Sgurr nan Eag: The approach to Sgurr nan Eag offered a relatively straightforward scramble — ungraded but not without its moments. With impressive drops and big mountain vibes, it’s a great objective in its own right. The summit delivered on views and atmosphere in full. Sgurr Dubh Mor: From there, Andy pushed on to the more demanding Sgurr Dubh Mor. This peak is infamous for complex route finding and grade two scrambling. It’s no place for a beginner, but for an experienced scrambler with solid navigation, it’s a dream challenge. The detour via Sgurr Dubh an Da Bheinn added a taste of airy exposure and classic Cuillin ridge energy. The summit? Spectacular — with twin tops and no clear winner, Andy did both for good measure. Descent & Support: On the descent, Andy helped a fellow walker navigate the trickier sections, offering real-time guidance that’s captured on film. This adds helpful commentary and an honest look at what you can expect on the way back down — especially if you're tackling it solo. Key Takeaways: Navigation is everything — GPS + solid map work is a must. Pick your weather window — these hills are unforgiving in poor conditions. Be ready for real scrambling — especially on Sgurr Dubh Mor. Loch Choire a' Chruinnda provides a peaceful and scenic finish to an epic day. This is one of the best scrambling adventures in the UK, and one well worth saving for a dry, clear day.
