This is an overview of the multimeter Flir DM92, as well as a description of the diode issue. Testing a diode with the meter, and comparing that to what the manual says are two completely different things. Flir support insists the manual is correct, even when it is obvious it isn't. The meter otherwise seems great so far, and I think that possibly it has the ability to test diodes, just that the manual needs to be corrected for this method of testing diodes, using an AC current. Flir told me they use AC current to test them, but it is obvious reading the manual they are describing a method that uses DC current (the way most meters test a diode). They also have kept insisting the manual is correct. They went on to explain that meters such as the DM90 can do the classic diode test. The DM92 manual is definitely giving the instructions for a "classic" diode test, while the meter is doing this Smart Diode Test. I wish they'd just update the manual with the proper instructions; something they should have done 5 years ago when the product came out. April 23, 2021 Update: Yay! Someone notified me, and the manual has been corrected now. The meter is still working great, and now that the manual is correct for the diode test, it will be easy to look that up any time and read about how it really works. Fantastic.
