The Explodatorium is where our hero, Shovel Knight, will do battle with Plague Knight, a devious member of the evil Order of No Quarter. Or is Plague Knight perhaps the true hero of his own story? Driven by the desire to craft the ultimate potion in order to attain true power and win the heart of his assistant, Mona, he does battle with Shovel Knight in the Explodatorium. However you choose to tell the story, one thing remains the same: Plague Knight is a mad scientist with a penchant for explosives. With such an explosive boss battle theme, this performance is sure to be a blast! Fun fact, the original Flowers of Antimony track was one of two tracks that game composition legend, Manami Matsumae (of Megaman fame), took the helm on composing for Shovel Knight. Since then, this track (and Plague Knight himself) have proven to be a fan favorite, warranting the scheming alchemist to get his own expansion with 2015’s Plague of Shadows campaign. This particular arrangement makes some use of unusual sounds such as the spooky theremin, known to be heard in many classic horror movies. It doesn’t stop there, because this arrangement also features original lyrics not heard in the original version! Listen for Manami Matsumae’s ingenious use of the whole tone scale as well; you’ll know it by its spooky sound. Are you ready to enter the Explodatorium? Let’s get volatile!
