From Rural Livelihoods to Clay Creations: Kipa Maniam’s Pottery Startup in Gumto Gumto, March 1 – In a bold move from community development to creative entrepreneurship, Kipa Maniam, a former staff of Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM), has embarked on a new journey in the world of pottery. Resigning from her job, she established Ania Pottery in 2023, dedicating it to her mother. With a Master’s degree in Sociology, Maniam’s academic background may not have directly pointed to pottery, but her passion for learning and exploration led her to embrace the art. “Pottery is more than just shaping clay; it’s a meditative process that connects one to the roots of creativity,” she shares. Based in Gumto Doimukh, Ania Pottery aims to blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary designs, offering handcrafted pieces that reflect both heritage and innovation. Her startup has already begun drawing attention from art enthusiasts and pottery lovers in the region. Maniam’s transition from a structured livelihood program to an artistic pursuit is a testament to the growing entrepreneurial spirit among young individuals in Arunachal Pradesh. Through Ania Pottery, she hopes to inspire others to follow their passion and explore creative ventures. As she molds her dreams into reality, Maniam envisions expanding her startup, conducting workshops, and promoting pottery as a sustainable livelihood option in the state.
