Drawing Bernini, (hybrid) reduction technique - Time Lapse

This is a demo I prepared for a workshop with The Compass Atelier. The subject is a detail of the face of Bernini’s David aiming for Goliath head.... The technique is a hybrid reduction technique (in Time Lapse) First I prepared a piece of Strathmore drawing paper in vellum finish, smearing charcoal dust over it and smoothing it with a soft cloth. Next I sketched in the main facial features and the outline of the head with charcoal then I started to lifting the highlights with kneaded eraser and pencil eraser. At the same time I was also adding darker values with Generals compressed charcoal pencils.
