Our last stop on our Myanmar adventure - a quick jeepney and a 5 hour bus ride from Bagan and we found ourselves back in the city. Again, so different to Yangon and a bit of a culture shock after smoky old Bagan. The city is a melt pot of food, people and the traffic was chaotic at every turn. We needed to see one thing in Mandalay, we needed to see for ourselves the U Bein Bridge, a marvel of 150+ years teak wood bridge that stretches 1.2 km long - it was stunning, but a bit scary the way that it would rock when there were so many people walking over it, its not very wide either and though the drop wouldnt kill you it was still a bit too much for me! We loved our afternoon, drinking a couple of beers and watching the sunset - we were happy we got down here a little early before the tourist buses arrived. Myanmar, you have been something very special to us - something that has taken us back to our roots of why we travel and the mysterious, beautiful, kind places there are in the world.
