I recently picked up a Jinhao 80 which seems to be Jinhao's take on cloning the lamy 2000, a pen which I like but have never owned. The last Lamy 2000 clone that I bought, the Kaco Edge, was a great writer but it suffered from cracking issues. Jinhao have been doing fountain pens much longer than kaco and they have done a much better job. It isn't makrolon, but the body is still brushed and it is still very comfortable to hold and write with. At $10 it is more expensive than most Jinhao pens used to cost, but it is a fair price and worth it, especially if you nib swap this with a genuine lamy nib. I have said in the past that whilst I use Lamy pens, I don't love the tripod grip which they use on the safari and al star. And the CP1 and studio don't justify their high price tag, at least to me, I am sure that they are fantastic pens. The jinhao 80, with lamy nib is the best of all worlds. Great writing performance, great ergonomics, and I don't feel too bad about it all since lamy got some money sent their way. It is my opinion that this would be a great pen for lamy to make and if sold at a reasonable price, I would buy it. Maybe call it a lamy 200 or lamy 1000. Or maybe, a lamy 80....
