(10 Dec 2013) Guests were arriving for the Nobel Prize ceremony at the concert hall in central Stockholm on Tuesday. The winners of the physics, chemistry and medicine price will receive the 8 (m) million krona (1.2 (m) million US dollars) prize, a gold medal and a diploma from the Swedish king. The 82-year-old literature winner Alice Munro, declined the invitation to Stockholm for health reasons and is represented by her daughter. The peace prize ceremony is held in the Norwegian capital, Oslo. Anne Groves was one of the dozens of people that watched the arrivals from a distance. A Canadian who has lived for 32-years in Sweden, she said Munro is a personal hero of hers and she wanted to show her support, even though she knows that Munro will not herself be present. "I'm here because I love Canadian literature and I love Alice Munro. And I have read her a lot and for a long time," said Groves. After the ceremony the Nobel laureates and selected guests will travel to the City Hall for the traditional Nobel Banquet. The award ceremonies are always held on December 10, the anniversary of prize founder Alfred Nobel's death in 1896.
