Obstetrician gynecologist, Dr. Thanos Paraschos, was live on Eleonora Meleti's show and analyzed the process of IVF. The above video begins with the process of oocyte retrieval in which the follicular fluid is collected by aspiration and ends up in special tubes. It is then transferred to the laboratory in which the oocytes are detected by the embryologists through means of special microscopes. Once the eggs have been identified, they are cleaned, processed, fertilized and usually two to three eggs are placed. Fertilized oocytes, which are embryos, are transferred into the womb. Implantation usually takes place 12 days after embryo transfer. There are cases where fertilization cannot be done by itself because the spermatozoa have a problem with their number or mobility. In that case, we can isolate a spermatozoon in a special pipette and place it in the egg with micro-fertilization. We are watching in this video, in live connection, the embryologist Lili monitoring the process of micro-fertilization. Finally, we can see the freezing of the embryos in special tubes where they are stored until used.
