Presented By: Jeffrey Bemis, PhD - Director of Clinical Studies Litron Laboratories - Rochester, New York Speaker Biography: Dr. Jeffrey Bemis received his PhD in Environmental Health and Toxicology from the University at Albany School of Public Health in Albany, NY. His thesis focused on the effects of combined exposure to the environmental contaminants polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and methyl mercury on central neurotransmitter systems. Jeff then spent three years as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Environmental Medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, NY. Here he investigated molecular and development aspects of exposure to PCBs and dioxin using a transgenic reporter mouse model. Co-Presented By: Jakob Bonse, PhD - Product Manager Flow Cytometry Instruments - Miltenyi Biotec Speaker Biography: Jakob Bonse completed his PhD at the Westfälische Wilhelms University of Münster, where he worked in the field of Molecular Nephrology, Metabolism, and End-Stage Renal Diseases. Jakob gained expert knowledge in the field of Hippo Signaling and Cell Transduction. He joined the Marketing team of Miltenyi Biotec in June 2019 as a product manager, where he is responsible for flow cytometry instruments and is co-ordinating dedicated marketing activities. Webinar: High-throughput genotoxicity assays for DNA damage and mode of action analyses Webinar Abstract: The toxicological testing market is no stranger to the principle of the three Rs of research: replacement, reduction, and refinement. With that to guide us, we will review ways to fulfill these requirements in the context of genetic toxicology testing, and as applicable to the drug development and discovery processes. In this presentation, Miltenyi Biotec and Litron Laboratories will review semi-automated products and procedures. These combine instrumentation and kits for in vitro micronucleus assessment and additional flow cytometry-based kits for evaluating multiple endpoints of DNA damage response pathways. In this we deliver comprehensive information about the status of a potential compound and its mode of action. Simultaneously, the use of in vitro assays, miniaturization with plate-based set up, and multi-endpoint assays deliver content-rich analyses whilst keeping to the three Rs.
