This video explains how to solve examples on multistage compressor with perfect inter cooling. This example is taken from Applied Thermodynamics question paper (May 2017) of S.P.P.U. (Pune University) The problem statement is as follows: A two stage reciprocating air compressor takes in air at 1 bar & 300 K. Air is delivered at 15 bar. The intermediate pressure is ideal and inter cooling is perfect. The law of compression is PV^1.25=C. The rate of discharge is 10 kg⁄(min.) Find i) Power required to drive the compressor ii) Saving in work compared to single stage iii) Heat rejected in inter cooler.
